The Row

One year ago a pair of the world's most famous twins, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, presented their very first runway collection for their luxury clothing brand The Row, named after London's iconic Savile Row. This year, the sisters showed their pre-fall collection at New York Fashion Week at their second runway show.

The Row is nothing like your typical celebrity-turned-designed brand. Mark Kate and Ashley are heavily involved in the designs of every piece in the collection, which is a mix a mix of personal styles. Ashley's clean-cut feminine style with an edgy twist blends perfectly with Mary Kate's vintage boho-chic look.

The collection is minimalistic and heavily tailored. It uses luxurious fabrics and modern, clean cuts to produce a collection that is flattering, feminine, modern and understated. Personally, I think the clothes are extremely impressive. They form a feminine yet totally minimalistic silhouette while still looking utterly cool and modern. It is almost exclusively shown in neutral colours and earthy tones. I love the subtle hints of fur and leather.

After being inducted into the renowned CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America) for outstanding contribution to fashion, the sisters have been nominated for this year's prestigious Swarovski Award for Womenswear at the CFDA annual awards ceremony.

The sisters have another line called Elizabeth and James, named after their siblings. The second brand is a slightly younger, less upscale line.
